DEVOTION - Who Is On The LORD's Side?- March 10, 2010

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him, grasping a naked sword.  Joshua walked towards him and said to him, 'Are you on our side or on that of our enemies?'  He replied, 'On neither side.  I have come now as the captain of the army of the LORD.'  Joshua fell on his face to the ground, worshipping him, and said, 'What has my Lord to say to his servant?'  The captain of the army of the LORD answered Joshua, 'Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.'  And Joshua did so.

Joshua 5:13-15

May your hand protect those at your side,
the child of Adam you have strengthened for yourself!

Psalm 80:17

You see, God doesn't have to take sides.  He is already LORD of ALL!  He is in complete control and His plans never fail!  He is ALMIGHTY!  He is not going to come over to our side.   Our way of thinking, our way of doing things, our way of making laws.  But we need Him!  We need the mind of Christ, we need the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and we need to follow God's laws!  We need to be on the LORD's  side.  It is "us" who have to choose a side.

Choose you this day whom you are going to serve!!!

DEVOTION - The LORD Sees! - March 9, 2010

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
by the breath of his mouth all their array.
He collects the waters of the sea like a dam,
he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.

Let the whole earth fear the LORD,
let all who dwell in the world revere him;
for, the moment he spoke, it was so,
no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!

The LORD thwarts the plans of nations,
frustrates the counsels of peoples;
but the LORD own plan stands firm forever,
his heart's counsel from age to age.
How blessed the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people he has chosen as his heritage.

For heaven the LORD looks down,
he sees all the children of Adam,
from the place where he sits he watches
all who dwell on the earth;
he alone moulds their hearts,
he understands all they do.

A large army will not keep a king safe,
nor his strength save a warrior's life;
it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety,
for all its power it cannot save.

But see how the LORD watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his faithful love,
to rescue them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

We are waiting for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield,
for in him our heart rejoices,
in his holy name we trust.
LORD, let your faithful  love rest on us,
as our hope has rested in you.

Psalm 33:6-22

DEVOTION - Bless Israel! - March 5, 2010

Blessed are you, O Israel!
Who is like you, O victorious people?
The LORD is the shield that protects you
and the sword that leads you to triumph.
Your enemies will try to corrupt you,
but you yourself will trample on their backs.

Deuteronomy 33:29

Christians, are we praying for Israel to be Saved?

For Israel to believe that Jesus Is The Christ, The Son of the Living God?

Bless Israel.  Pray for the salvation of the Jewish people!

DEVOTION - Does God Care About How We Dress? - March 3, 2010

Deuteronomy 22:5

How many of us knew that was in the Bible?

DEVOTION - The LORD Is King! - March 2, 2010

The LORD is king!  Let earth rejoice,
the many isles be glad!
Cloud, black cloud enfolds him,
saving justice and judgment the foundations of his throne.

Fire goes before him,
sets ablaze his enemies all around;
his lightning-flashes light up the world,
the earth sees it and quakes.

The mountains melt like was,
before the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his saving justice,
all nations see his glory.

Shame on all who serve images,
who pride themselves on their idols;
bow down to him, all you gods!

Zion hears and is glad,
the daughters of Judah exult,
because of your judgments, LORD.

For you are the LORD,
Most High over all the earth,
far transcending all gods.

The LORD loves those who hate evil,
he keeps safe his faithful,
rescues them from the clutches of the wicked.

Light dawns for the upright,
and joy for honest hearts.
Rejoice in the LORD, you who are upright,
praise his unforgettable holiness.

Psalm 97

DEVOTION - You Must Hold Fast! - March 1, 2010

If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you, offering you some sign or wonder, and the sign or wonder comes about; and if he then says to you, "Let us follow other gods (hitherto unknown to you) and serve them," you must not listen to that prophet's words or to that dreamer's dreams.  The LORD your God is testing you to know if you love the LORD  your God with all your heart and all your soul.  The LORD your God is the one whom you must follow, him you must fear, his commandments you must keep, his voice you must obey, him you must serve, to him you must hold fast.

Jesus Saves!

*Jesus from the Hebrew word, yeshua', meaning "savior" or "Yahweh saves"

Yahweh - the probable pronunciation of the Hebrew letters YHWH, which form the personal name of God in the OT.  The name is a form of the Hebrew verb "to be" and probably has the meaning of "The One Who Is Always Present."

Romans 5:9 (LBV)

The Bible Says So!

DEVOTION - Stop Applauding Sin! - February 4, 2010

In other words, since they would not consent to acknowledge God, God abandoned them to their unacceptable thoughts and indecent behavior.  And so now they are steeped in all sorts of injustice, rottenness, greed and malice; full of envy, murder, wrangling, treachery and spite, libelers, slanderers, enemies of God, rude, arrogant and boastful, enterprising in evil, rebellious to parents, without brains, honor, love or pity.  They are well aware of God's ordinance:  that those who behave like this deserve to die--yet they not only do it, but even applaud others who do the same.

Romans 1:28-32

If you Stand for Sin then you Stand Against God!

DEVOTION - Brought You To Life! - February 3, 2010

DEVOTION - Will Not? - January 20, 2010

...and you will not tattoo yourselves.  I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:28

I was talking to a Christian last week who did not know this was in the Bible.  It is!  But what if it's a 'cross' or a 'bible verse'.  You can not honor God by breaking His Word!

YOU WILL NOT TATTOO YOURSELVES - why?

Because the LORD said so!

DEVOTION - What Shall WE Cry? - January 19, 2010

A voice said, 'Cry aloud!' and I said,
'What shall I cry?'
'All humanity is grass
and all its beauty like the wild flower's.
The grass withers, the flower fades

(The grass is surely the people.)

Colossians 2:9-10

Divinity In All Its FULLNESS - That's JESUS!

DEVOTION - Live In Him! - January 14, 2010

So then, as you received Jesus as Lord and Christ, now live your lives in him, be rooted in him and built up on him, held firm by the faith you have been taught, and overflowing with thanksgiving.  Make sure that no one captivates you with the empty lure of a 'philosophy' of the kind that human beings hand on, based on the principles of this world and not on Christ.

Colossians 2:6-8

Don't Let The World Take You Captive!

With It's Philosophy!

OverFlow With Thanksgiving &

Spread The Gospel Of Jesus Christ!

DEVOTION - Firm Faith!- January 13, 2010

I want you to know, then, what a struggle I am having on your behalf and on behalf of those in Laodicea, and on behalf of so many others who have never seen me face to face.  It is all to bind them together in love and to encourage their resolution until they are rich in the assurance of their complete understanding and have knowledge of the mystery of God in which all the jewels of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.

I say this to make sure that no one deceives you with specious arguments.  I may be absent in body, but in spirit I am there among you, delighted to find how well ordered you are and to see how firm your faith in Christ is.

Colossians 2:1-5

DEVOTION - It Is Forever!- January 12, 2010

To him who can keep you from falling and bring you safe to his glorious presence, innocent and joyful, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, authority and power, before all ages, now and forever.  Amen.

Jude 24-25

Jesus keeps us from falling

Jesus brings us safely home into his presence

Innocent and joyful!  Hallelujah!

It's Jesus The One and Only Savior of the World!

DEVOTION - Oh, It Is By Grace!- January 11, 2010

After the ordeal he has endured,
he will see the light and be content.
By his knowledge, the upright one,
my servant will justify many
by taking their guilt on himself.

Isaiah 53:11

We are justified by what Jesus DID on the Cross!  Human beings can add nothing to GRACE!

Counting on the promise of God, he did not doubt or disbelieve, but drew strength from faith and gave glory to God, fully convinced that whatever God promised he has the power to perform.  This is the faith that was reckoned to him as uprightness.  And the word 'reckoned' in scripture applies not only to him; it is there for our sake too--our faith, too, will be 'reckoned' because we believe in him who raised from the dead our Lord Jesus who was handed over to death for our sins and raised to life for our justification.  Romans 4:20-25

GRACE is unmerited favor!  GRACE is God and God Alone!  It is not by works, not even "Good" works!  It is by Grace that we are saved!!!

In whom, through his blood, we gain our freedom, the forgiveness of our sins.  Such is the richness of the grace which he has showered on us in all wisdom and insight.
Ephesians 1:7

DEVOTION - Sometimes We Forget...!- January 8, 2010

Not to go slandering other people but to be peaceable and gentle and always polite to people of all kinds.  There was a time when we too were ignorant, disobedient and misled and enslaved by different passions and dissipations; we lived then in wickedness and malice, hating each other and hateful ourselves.

Titus 3:2-3

Lord, we love You!   May we remember your Word today and put it into practice in our lives.  Help us Jesus we pray.  Amen.

2 Thessalonians 3:16

DEVOTION - Everyone Will See Him! - January 5, 2010

John, to the seven churches of Asia:  grace and peace to you from him who is, who was, and who is to come, from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the First-born from the dead, the highest of earthly kings.  He loves us and has washed away our sins with his blood, and made us a Kingdom of Priests to serve his God and Father; to him, then be glory and power for ever and ever.  Amen.  Look, he is coming on the clouds; everyone will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the races of the earth will mourn over him.  Indeed this shall be so.  Amen.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 1:4-8

Even Those Who Pierced Him!

DEVOTION - It's A New Year... - January 4, 2010

...The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering.  But he did not look with favor on Cain and his offering, and Cain was very angry and downcast.  The LORD asked Cain, 'Why are you angry and downcast?  If you are doing right, surely you ought to hold your head high!  But if you are not doing right, Sin is crouching at the door hungry to get you.  You can still master him.'

Genesis 4:4-7

Are You Doing Right?

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, my brothers.  Amen.

Let the wise understand these words,
let the intelligent grasp their meaning,
for the LORD's ways are straight
and the upright will walk in them,
but sinners will stumble.

Hosea 14:10

The LORD's Ways Are Straight!

This is how Hosea concludes.  Have you read Hosea lately?

...Do you love me?

Feed my lambs

Look after my sheep

Feed my sheep

Jesus said to _______, do you love me more than these others do?

From John 21:15-17

What Is Jesus Saying To You?

DEVOTION - Say His Name! - December 18, 2009

Then you will be handed over to be tortured and put to death; and you will be hated by all nations on account of my name.  And then many will fall away; people will betray one another and hate one another.  Many false prophets will arise; they will deceive many, and with the increase of lawlessness, love in most people will grow cold; but anyone who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Matthew 24:9-13

It's not even about saying "Merry Christmas";  tell somebody that "Jesus Loves Them"; tell somebody that "Jesus Saves Them";  tell somebody that "Jesus Is God!"  Stand firm, lift up the Name of Jesus, Savior and LORD!

DEVOTION - Are You Loyal To God? - December 17, 2009

On the contrary, you must be loyal to the LORD your God as you have been till now.  The LORD has dispossessed great and powerful nations before you, and no one so far has been able to resist you.  One man of you was able to rout a thousand of them, since the LORD your God was himself fighting for you, as he had promised you.  Be very careful, as you value your life, to love the LORD your God.

Joshua 23:8-11

DEVOTION - That Day IS Coming!- December 16, 2009

When that Day comes, living waters will issue from Jerusalem, half toward the eastern sea, half toward the western sea; they will flow summer and winter.  Then the LORD will become king of the whole world.  When that Day comes, the LORD will be the one and only and his name the one name.

Zechariah 14:8-9

That Day is Coming!

We need to know what will happen on that Day.

His Name Is The One and Only Name.  Because JESUS is God!  Are you getting this Word OUT!

DEVOTION - We Should Believe! - December 14, 2009

His commandment is this,
that we should believe
in the name of his Son Jesus Christ
and that we should love one another
as he commanded us.
Whoever keeps his commandments
remains in God, and God in him.
And this is the proof
that he remains in us:
the Spirit that he has given us.

1 John 3:23-24

Do You Believe in Jesus?

Do You Confess With Your Mouth?

DEVOTION - Want Proof! - December 11, 2009

This is the proof that we remain in him
and he in us,
that he has given us a share in his Spirit.
We ourselves have seen and testify
that the Father sent his Son
as Savior of the world.
Anyone who acknowledges
that Jesus is the Son of God,
God remains in him and he in God.
We have recognized for ourselves,
and put our faith in,
the love God has for us.
God is love,
and whoever remains in love
remains in God
and God in him.

1 John 4:13-16

The Holy Spirit!

DEVOTION - Merry Christmas! - December 10, 2009

My dear friends,
not every spirit is to be trusted,
but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God,
for many false prophets
are at large in the world.
This is the proof of the spirit of God:
any spirit
which acknowledges Jesus Christ,
come in human nature,
is from God,
and no spirit
which fails to acknowledge Jesus
is from God;
it is the spirit of Antichrist,
whose coming you have heard of;
he is already at large in the world.
Children, you are from God
and have overcome them,
because he who is in you
is greater than he who is in the world.
They are from the world,
and therefore the world
inspires what they say,
and listens to them.
We are from God;
whoever recognizes God listens to us;
anyone who is not from God
refuses to listen to us.
This is how we can distinguish
the spirit of truth
from the spirit of falsehood.

1 John 4:1-6

When you know that Jesus is God you gladly acknowledge him before people.

Be thankful that you know the truth!

DEVOTION - O man! - December 9, 2009

"And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? (Romans 2:3)

There is a lot of judging going on today. But I think we all, (and I am including myself) should be careful. Look at this Scripture again:

"Whenever we feel ourselves feeling justifiably angry about someone's sin, we should be careful. We need to speak out against sin, but we must do so in a spirit of humility. Often the sins we notice most clearly in others are the ones that have taken root in us. If we look closely at ourselves, we may find that we are committing the same sins in more socially acceptable forms. For example, a person who gossips may be very critical of others who gossips about him or her." Romans 2:3 Life Application Bible

Father forgive me for looking at someone else's sin an being angry when I should be angry about my own sin. Against You only have I sinned and done what is wrong in your sight. Judging people is sin. I am sorry please forgive me. In Jesus Name. Amen.

He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Isaiah 53:12d

Don't we all have transgressions? Do we all make intercession?
Thank You Jesus for the forgiveness of sin.

Anybody you need to pray for today?

DEVOTION - Healing In His Wings! - December 8, 2009

Unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.  Malachi 4:2a

This scripture has a very special meaning to me.  This was the scripture card I had in my pocket on the day I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I find that it again has special meaning to me today.  Because I have just returned from taking Chris to the ER.  He has been having stomach pain, I believe that the LORD is telling me that all is well with Chris.

Don't you just love it when the LORD speaks just so clearly to you!!
Thank You Jesus!

DEVOTION - Our Hope!- December 7, 2009

It was God's purpose to reveal to them how rich is the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; it is Christ among you, your hope of glory.

Colossians 1:27

JESUS!

DEVOTION - He Cares For Us!- December 4, 2009

The lives of the just are in the LORD's care,
their birthright will endure forever;
they will not be put to shame when bad times come,
in time of famine they will have plenty.

Psalms 37:18-19

Amen!

DEVOTION - Call On The LORD! - November 12, 2009

Alleluia!

I am filled with love when the LORD listens
to the sound of my prayer,
when he bends down to hear me,
as I call.

The bonds of death were all round me,
the snares of Sheol held me fast;
distress and anguish held me in their grip,
I called on the name of the LORD.

Deliver me, LORD, I beg you.

The LORD is merciful and upright,
our God in tenderness.
The LORD looks after the simple,
when I was brought low he gave me strength.

My heart, be at peace once again,
for the LORD has treated you generously.
He has rescued me from death, my eyes from tears,
and my feet from stumbling.
I shall pass my life in the presence of the LORD,
in the land of the living.

DEVOTION - Saved By God's Power Not Ours! - November 11, 2009

Further, the former priests were many in number, because death put an end to each one of them; but this one, because he remains for ever, has a perpetual priesthood.  It follows, then, that his power to save those who come to God through him is absolute, since he lives for ever to intercede for them.

DEVOTION - Boasting! - November 9, 2009

Well now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow, we are off to this or that town; we are going to spend a year there, trading, and make some money.'  You never know what will happen tomorrow:  you are no more than a mist that appears for a little while and then disappears.  Instead of this, you should say, 'If it is the Lord's will, we shall still be alive to do this or that.'  But as it is, how boastful and loud-mouthed you are!  Boasting of this kind is always wrong.  Everyone who knows what is the right thing to do and does not do it commits a sin.

James 4:13-17

DEVOTION - Good Riddance! - November 5, 2009

When the Lord has given you
the bread of suffering
and the water of distress,
he who is your teacher will hide no longer,
and you will see your teacher
with your own eyes.
Your ears will hear these words
behind you,
'This is the way, keep to it,'
whether you turn to right or left.
You will hold unclean
the silverplating of your idols
and the goldplating of your images.
You will throw them away
like the polluted things they are,
shouting after them, 'Good riddance!'

Isaiah 30:20-22

What's In Your House that You Need To Throw Away?

What's In Your Heart that You Need To ...?

DEVOTION - Saved By Grace! - October 23, 2009

But certain members of the Pharisees' party who had become believers objected, insisting that gentiles should be circumcised and instructed to keep the Law of Moses.  The apostles and elders met to look into the matter, and after a long discussion, Peter stood up and addressed them.  'My brothers,' he said, 'you know perfectly well that in the early days God made his choice among you:  the gentiles were to learn the good news from me and so become believers.  And God, who can read everyone's heart, showed his approval of them by giving the Holy Spirit to them just as he had to us.  God made no distinction between them and us, since he purified their hearts by faith.  Why do you put God to the test now by imposing on the disciples the very burden that neither  our ancestors nor we ourselves were strong enough to support?  But we believe that we are saved in the same way as they are:  through the grace of the Lord Jesus.'

Acts 15:5-11

Salvation is God's Gift

He Gives It To Whoever He Pleases!

Unmerited Favor - GRACE!

DEVOTION - Be Helpful! - October 22, 2009

...You know what my way of life has been ever since the first day I set foot among you in Asia, how I have served the Lord in all humility, with all the sorrows and trials that came to me through the plots of the Jews.  I have not hesitated to do anything that would be helpful to you; I have preached to you and instructed you both in public and in your homes, urging both Jews and Greeks to turn to God and to believe in our Lord Jesus.

DEVOTION - Forever True!- October 14, 2009

In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away all will have taken place.  Sky and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the cares of life, and that day will come upon you unexpectedly, like a trap.  For it will come down on all those living on the face of the earth.  Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to hold your ground before the Son of man.'

Luke 21:32-36 (NJB)

I solemnly declare to you that when these things happen, the end of this age has come.  And though all heaven and earth shall pass away, yet my words remain forever true.

"Watch out!  Don't let my sudden coming catch you unawares; don't let me find you living in careless ease, carousing and drinking, and occupied with the problems of this life, like all the rest of the world.  Keep a constant watch.  And pray that if possible you may arrive in my presence without having to experience these horrors."

Luke 21:32-36 (LB)

Stay Awake and Pray!

Is That What You Are Doing?

DEVOTION - Preach Behavior!- October 13, 2009

It is for you, then, to preach the behavior which goes with healthy doctrine.  Older men should be reserved, dignified, moderate, sound in faith and love and perseverance.  Similarly, older women should behave as befits religious people, with no scandal-mongering and no addiction to wine--they must be the teachers of right behavior and show younger women how they should love their husbands and love their children, how they must be sensible and chaste, and how to work in their homes, and be gentle, and obey their husbands, so that the message of God is not disgraced.  Similarly, urge younger men to be moderate in everything that they do, and you yourself set an example of good works, by sincerity and earnestness, when you are teaching, and by a message sound and irreproachable so that any opponent will be at a loss, with no accusation to make against us.

Titus 2:1-8

Father, help us to be doers of Your Word today!  We thank you Lord and give you Praise and Honor.  In Jesus Name we pray.

DEVOTION - Only God Is Perfect!- October 12, 2009

God's Pledge is the Holy Spirit!

DEVOTION - To You Jesus! - October 8, 2009

DEVOTION - Fight Like A Good Soldier! - October 6, 2009

Timothy, my son, these are the instructions that I am giving you, in accordance with the words once spoken over you by the prophets, so that in their light you may fight like a good soldier with faith and a good conscience for your weapons.  Some people have put conscience aside and wrecked their faith in consequence.

Your Weapons?

Faith And A Good Conscience!

DEVOTION - Still Shouting! - October 5, 2009

SHOUT WITH joy before the Lord, O earth!
Obey him gladly; come before him, singing with joy.
Try to realize what this means--the Lord is God!
He made us--we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Go through his open gates with great thanksgiving;
Enter his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and bless his name.
For the Lord is always good.
He is always loving and kind,
And his faithfulness goes on and on to each succeeding generation.

I thank you, LORD, with all my heart,
for you have listened to the cry I uttered.
In the presence of angels I sing to you,
I bow down before your holy Temple.

and you gave new strength to my heart.

DEVOTION - Yes, It Will Happen! - Sept. 29, 2009

It will happen in the final days
that the mountain of the LORD's house
will rise higher than the mountains
and tower above the heights.
Then all the nations will stream to it,
many peoples will come to it and say,
'Come, let us go up
to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob
that he may teach us his ways
so that we may walk in his paths.'
For the Law will issue from Zion
and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Then he will judge between nations
and arbitrate between many peoples.
They will hammer their swords
into ploughshares
and their spears into sickles.
Nation will not lift sword against nation,
no longer will they learn how to make war.

House of Jacob, come,
let us walk in the LORD's light.

Isaiah 2:2-5

Lord, teach us your ways today.  May we learn of You and walk in your paths even now!  Thank You Lord for Your Holy Word!  Everything will happen just as You Say!  Thank You Lord for saving us.  We love you!  In Jeus Name we pray.  Amen.

'Do not be afraid,' he replied, 'for there are more on our side than on theirs.'  And Elisha prayed.  'LORD,' he said, 'open his eyes and make him see.'  The LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he saw the mountain covered in fiery horses and chariots surrounding Elisha.

DEVOTIONAL - For Whom? - Sept. 23, 2009

For whom is pity, for whom contempt,
for whom is strife, for whom complaint,
for whom blows struck at random,
for whom the clouded eye?
For those who linger over wine too long,
ever on the look-out for the blended liquors.
So not gaze at wine, how red it is,
how it sparkles in the cup!
How smoothly it slips down the throat!
In the end its bite is like a serpent's,
its sting as sharp as an adder's.
Your eyes will see peculiar things,
you will talk nonsense from your heart.
You will be like someone sleeping in mid-ocean,
like one asleep at the mast-head.
'Struck me, have they?  But I'm not hurt.
Beaten me?  I don't feel anything.
When shall I wake up?...
I'll ask for more of it!'

Proverbs 23:29-35

Who Will You Follow Today?

DEVOTIONAL - God Is Perfectly Able - Sept. 16, 2009

But remember:  anyone who sows sparsely will reap sparsely as well--and anyone who sows generously will reap generously as well.  Each one should give as much as he has decided on his own initiative, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful give.  God is perfectly able to enrich you with every grace, so that you always have enough for every conceivable need, and your resources overflow in all kinds of good work.  As scripture says:  To the needy he gave without stint, his uprightness stands firm for ever.

2 Corinthians 9:6-9

To the needy he gives without stint,
his uprightness stands firm for ever;
his reputation is founded on strength.

Oh, Yes He Is!

DEVOTIONAL - This Treasure! - Sept. 15, 2009

But we hold this treasure in pots of earthen-ware, so that the immensity of the power is God's and not our own.  We are subjected to every kind of hardship, but never distressed; we see no way out but we never despair; we are pursued but never cut off; knocked down, but still have some life in us.

Do not envy the man of violence,

The LORD's curse lies on the house of the wicked,
but he blesses the home of the upright.
He mocks those who mock,
but accords his favor to the humble.
Glory is the portion of the wise,
all that fools inherit is contempt.

DEVOTIONAL -God Raised Jesus From The Dead! - August 14, 2009

Do You Believe?

Saints, Praise the Name of Jesus with me!  Perry was on his way to Nebraska Sunday for a business meeting today.  Well, Perry is still in Atlanta because the pilot of the plane refused to fly it to Nebraska.  It was an AirFrance airbus.  Delta wanted to clear the plane to fly but the pilot refused to fly it.  Praise be To God! Please pray blessings for that pilot!  I sensed something about this trip and was praying and Perry asked for prayer in church yesterday!  The flight in Atlanta kept being delayed and delayed and finally canceled.  I know it was the LORD protecting Perry and everyone on that plane!  Please thank Jesus with me today!  Perry will be flying out of Atlanta for home at 1:30 p.m.  We ask your prayers.

Thank You Jesus!

DEVOTIONAL - Who Do You Obey? - August 4, 2009

When they had brought them in to face the Sanhedrin, the high priest demanded an explanation.  'We gave you a strong warning', he said, 'not to preach in this name and what have you done?  You have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and seem determined to fix the guilt for this man's death on us.'  In reply Peter and the apostles said, 'Obedience to God comes before obedience to men; it was the God of our ancestors who raised up Jesus, whom you executed by hanging on a tree.  By his own right hand God has now raised him up to be leader and Savior, to give repentance and forgiveness of sins through him to Israel.  We are witnesses to this, we and the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.'

DEVOTIONAL - LORD of All!- July 23, 2009

For none of us lives for himself and none of us dies for himself; while we are alive, we are living for the Lord, and when we die, we die for the Lord:  and so, alive or dead, we belong to the Lord.  It was for this purpose that Christ both died and came to life again:  so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

DEVOTIONAL - Your Words -Good or Bad?- July 22, 2009

Make a tree sound and its fruit will be sound; make a tree rotten and its fruit will be rotten.  For the tree can be told by its fruit.  You brood of vipers, how can your speech be good when you are evil?  For words flow out of what fills the heart.  Good people draw good things from their store of goodness; bad people draw bad things from their store of badness.  So I tell you this that for every unfounded word people utter they will answer on Judgement Day, since it is by your words you will be justified, and by your words condemned.

Matthew 12:33-37

Your Words Tell The World

Will We Turn Aside Too??

DEVOTIONAL - In The Name Of Jesus Be Healed!- July 20, 2009

About then, Hezekiah fell ill and was at the point of death.  The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came and said to him, 'The LORD says this, "Put your affairs in order, for you are going to die, you will not live."  Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and addressed this prayer to the LORD, 'Ah, LORD, remember, I beg you, that I have behaved faithfully and with sincerity of heart in your presence and done what you regard as right.'  And Hezekiah shed many tears.  Isaiah 38:1-3

Crying About Your Problems Isn't Enough!  Can You Ask God To Remember Anything About You?  What Have You Prayed?

Then the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, 'Go and say to Hezekiah, "The LORD, the God of your ancestor David, says this:  I have heard your prayer and seen your tears.  I shall cure you:  in three days' time you will go up to the Temple of the LORD.  I shall add fifteen years to your life.  Isaiah 38:4-5

DEVOTIONAL - God's Word Will Never Pass Away! - June 24, 2009

They said to him, 'Then why did Moses command that a writ of dismissal should be given in cases of divorce?'  He said tot hem, 'It was because you were so hard-hearted, that Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but it was not like this from the beginning.  Now I say this to you:  anyone who divorces his wife--I am not speaking of an illicit marriage--and marries another, is guilty of adultery.'  Matthew 19:7-9 (New Jerusalem Bible)

Why did Moses allow divorce, Jesus says it was because they were "so hard-hearted."  Notice he didn't just say "hard-hearted"  but "so" hard-hearted!  Who else in the Bible was hard-hearted?  I thought about Pharoah who was hard-hearted towards God.  Now imagine men being like that towards their wives!  Jesus says it was not like that in the beginning.  That is not the way marriage should be and it is not the way God created marriage to be in the beginning.  Remember how happy Adam was at first when God brought his wife, Eve, to him.  What kills that happiness--a heart that refuses to care anymore, refuses to share anymore, refuses to feel anymore, refuses to give love anymore!  Hard-heartedness leads to divorce!  When was the last time you asked God to soften your heart (not your spouse's) and bless your marriage?  Marriage takes three - God, husband and wife!

Now I say this to you:  anyone who divorces his wife--I am not speaking of an illicit marriage--and marries another, is guilty of adultery.'   What is an illicit marriage.  Let see the verse in another version of the Bible:

And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery:  and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.  Matthew 19:9 (KJV)

I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery. Matthew 19:9 (NIV)

See God says you can't divorce your wife because "she doesn't look good anymore, or because you're not interested in her anymore or even because you don't love her anymore.  All this is plain hard-heartedness!  All problems in marriage are supposed to be talked out, prayed out and forgiven out!  That's why God must be in your marriage!  Was she unfaithful to you; did she commit fornication?  If the answer is "No" she is yours until death due you part otherwise you have committed adultery!  Adultery is a sin and if you have done it you need to confess it to God!  Remember "what God has united, human beings must not divide."  Will everyone accept this teaching from the Bible?

The disciples said to him, 'If that is how things are between husband and wife, it is advisable not to marry.'  But he replied, 'It is not everyone who can accept what  I have said, but only those to whom it is granted.  There are eunuchs born so from their mother's womb, there are eunuchs made so by human agency and there are eunuchs who have made themselves so for the sake of the kingdom of Heaven.  Let anyone accept this who can.'  Matthew 19:10-12

Can You Accept It?

DEVOTIONAL - His People! - June 23, 2009

The LORD is the strength of his people,
a safe refuge for his anointed.
Save your people, bless your heritage,
shepherd them and carry them forever.

Psalm 28:8-9

Strength for who?

Refuge for who?

Save who?

Bless who?

Shepherd who?

Carry who?

DEVOTIONAL - That Is Why! - June 22, 2009

Some Pharisees approached him, and to put him to the test they said, 'Is it against the Law for a man to divorce his wife on any pretext whatever?'  He answered, 'Have you not read that the Creator from the beginning made them male and female and that he said:  This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and the two become one flesh?  They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh.   So then, what God has united, human beings must not divide.'  Matthew 19:3-6

Marriage can not be redefined.  Marriage has already been defined by God since the beginning.  The only one who wants to change it now and mock God with his own creation is Satan!  In this Scripture the term 'man' means male and 'wife' means female.  Let's go back to the beginning!  Genesis 1:27-28 says:

God created man in the image of himself, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.  God blessed them, saying to them, 'Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it.

Now God blessed 'who'?  God blessed them - male and female!
God told 'who' to multiply? - male and female!
God made 'who' for the purpose of reproduction in order to fill the earth? - male and female!

God did not bless a male and male union or a female and female union.  And God who never changes never will bless it.  Adam was the only male on the planet and Eve the only female making any same sex union absolutely IMPOSSIBLE!  God made it this way on purpose and remember there was also no sin on the planet.  But when sin came so did perversion and that is what you are seeing today in same sex unions - Sin and perversion against God!  This issue has nothing to do with discrimination or rights - it is just blatant disobedience to the Will of God!  Any man can get married to any woman he chooses and any woman can get married to any man she chooses.  God doesn't give license to sin but man does!

Genesis 2:21-25 says:

Then, the LORD God made the man fall into a deep sleep.  And, while he was asleep, he took one of his ribs and closed the flesh up again forthwith.  The LORD God fashioned the rib he had taken from the man into woman, and brought her to the man.  And the man said:

This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh!  She is to be called Woman, because she was taken from Man.

This is why a man leaves his father and mother and become attached to his wife, and they become one flesh.  Now, both of them were naked, the man and his wife, but they felt no shame before each other.

God created man's desire for woman  with an eternal bond.  God made the woman from the rib of man.  He took a part of a man and he did not make another man but instead fashioned woman.  That means he made and molded her is such a way as to fulfill all the need of man including his loneliness.  What was taken from man is restored to man in the union of marriage so that man will never be alone and without a helper again.  Remember, The LORD God said, 'It is not right that a man should be alone.  I shall make him a helper.' Genesis 2:18

The only suitable helper for a man is a woman!  The only suitable lover for a man is a woman.  The only wife for man is a woman.  That's why Adam had to exclaim, "At last bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh!"  So Adam called what came out of him 'Woman" because she was taken from Man.  Marriage is more than a union, it is a reunion, a reuniting!  What was taken from man, comes back to man and forms one flesh again in marriage.   Marriage is so intimate  that two people become one!  There is no merging, no oneness in any same sex union.  They are opposites and separate forever, regardless of how they degrade their bodies!  It is degradation and will always be covered in darkness, guilt, and shame.  It will always and forever bear God's disapproval and wrath!

But the marriage of a man and a woman is made by God!  It is holy and blessed by God and that is why they can be naked and feel no shame with each other.  This means they can bear all to one another, body, heart and soul without shame.  Why?  because God approves of their union.  They are truly one!  They share as one everything - joys, sorrows, triumphs, failures, sickness, health, children, love, life!

Marriage is truly wonderful and beautiful.  When a man finds a wife he finds what?  A Good Thing!  Thank You Lord for Holy marriage - the uniting of man and wife (always female)!  So then, what God has united, human beings must not divide.'

DEVOTIONAL - The Real Issued! - June 19, 2009

You pore over the scriptures, believing that in them you can find eternal life; it is these scriptures that testify to me, and yet you refuse to come to me to receive life! Human glory means nothing to me. Besides, I know you too well: you have no love of God in you. I have come in the name of my Father and you refuse to accept me; if someone else should come in his own name you would accept him. How can you believe, since you look to each other for glory and are not concerned with the glory that comes from the one God? Do not imagine that I am going to accuse you before the Father: you have placed your hopes on Moses, and Moses will be the one who accuses you. If you really believed him you would believe me too, since it was about me that he was writing; but if you will not believe what he wrote, how can you believe what I say? John 5:39-47

The Real Issue is "No Love of God" and that is what will be Judged!

When you don't love God, you refuse to acknowledge Him as God or obey Him as God! You refuse God's authority over you and lift up your own authority!   Human glory demands it's right to do whatever it wants and seeks acceptance and validation from human laws, while blatantly disregarding the Laws of God!

The Real Issue is "No Love of God" and that is what will be Judged!

Whoever holds to my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me; and whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I shall love him and reveal myself to him. John 14:21

The Real Issue is "No Love of God" and that is what will be Judged!

Jesus replied: Anyone who loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him. Anyone who does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not my own: it is the word of the Father who sent me. John 14:23-24

The Real Issue is "No Love of God" and that is what will be Judged!

They put human glory before God's glory. Jesus declared publicly:

Whoever believes in me believes not in me but in the one who sent me, and whoever sees me, sees the one who sent me. I have come into the world as light, to prevent anyone who believes in me from staying in the dark any more. If anyone hears my words and does not keep them faithfully, it is not I who shall judge such a person, since I have come not to judge the world, but to save the world: anyone who rejects me and refuses my words has his judge already: the word itself that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day. For I have not spoken of my own accord; but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and what to speak, and I know that his commands mean eternal life. And therefore what the Father has told me is what I speak. John 12:43-50

The Real Issue is "No Love of God" and that is what will be Judged!

Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me, to repay everyone as their deeds deserve. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who will have washed their robes clean, so that they will have the right to feed on the tree of life and can come through the gates into the city. Others must stay outside: dogs, fortune-tellers, and the sexually immoral, murderers, idolaters, and everyone of false speech and false life. Revelation 22:12-15

DEVOTIONAL - Believe God's Word! - June 18, 2009

The retribution of God from heaven is being revealed against the ungodliness and injustice of human beings who in their injustice hold back the truth.  For what can be known about God is perfectly plain to them, since God has made it plain to them:  ever since the creation of the world, the invisible existence of God and his everlasting power have been clearly seen by the mind's understanding of created things.  And so these people have no excuse:  they knew God and yet they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but their arguments became futile and their uncomprehending minds were darkened.  While they claimed to be wise, in fact they were growing so stupid that they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an imitation, for the image of a mortal human being, or of birds, or animals, or crawling things.

That is why God abandoned them in their inmost cravings to filthy practices of dishonoring their own bodies--because they exchanged God's truth for a lie and have worshipped and served the creature instead of the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

That is why God abandoned them to degrading passions:  why their women have exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices; and the men, in a similar fashion, too, giving up normal relations with women, are consumed with passion for each other, men doing shameful things with men and receiving in themselves due reward for their perversion.

In other words, since they would not consent to acknowledge God, God abandoned them to their unacceptable thoughts and indecent behavior.  And so now they are steeped in all sorts of injustice, rottenness, greed and malice; full of envy, murder, wrangling, treachery and spite, libellers, slanderers, enemies of God, rude, arrogant and boastful, enterprising in evil, rebellious to parents, without brains, honor, love or pity.  They are well aware of God's ordinance:  that those who behave like this deserve to die--yet they no only do it, but even applaud others who do the same.  Romans 1:18-32

DEVOTIONAL - Good and Right! - June 12, 2009

Asa did what the LORD his God regards as good and right.  He abolished the foreign altars and the high places, broke the pillars, cut down the sacred poles, and urged Judah to seek the LORD, God of their ancestors, and to observe the law and commandment.  Because he abolished the high places and incense altars through the towns of Judah, the kingdom under him was undisturbed. He rebuilt the fortified towns of Judah, since the country was at peace and free of war during those years, because the LORD granted him peace.

2 Chronicles 14:1-5

DEVOTIONAL - Why Has The LORD...! - June 11, 2009

But if you turn away and forsake my laws and commandments which I have laid down for you, and go and serve other gods and worship them, then I shall uproot them from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple which I have consecrated for my name and make it a proverb and a byword among all the peoples.  And at this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by will be appalled, and will say, "Why has the LORD treated this country and this Temple like this?"  And the answer will be, "Because they deserted the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why he has brought all these disasters on them."

DEVOTIONAL - Speak LORD! - June 9, 2009

Again the LORD called, the third time.  He got up and went to Eli and said, 'Here I am, as you called me.'  Eli then understood that the LORD was calling the child, and he said to Samuel, 'Go and lie down, and if someone calls say, "Speak, LORD; for your servant is listening."  So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

DEVOTIONAL - Let Us Pray! - June 8, 2009

Good Morning Our Heavenly Father,
Father its once again that a few of your chosen vessels have gathered together to approach your throne of grace. We thank you for another day, we thank you for allowing us to be able to call on you, thank you for your awesome wonder and your greatness. As we pray, we first want to let you know, that we love you, we magnify you and we appreciate you. You are our creator, alpha and omega, the wonderful counselor, the almighty and all wise one. There is no one like you, as we pray, please forgive us for our sins, thank you that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, thank you that our sins are forgiven, thrown as far as the east and west. We thank you that you sent Jesus to pay the debt of all our sins. We dare not take your mercy and grace for granted, but we are grateful for it. Lord we ask that you strengthen each one of us, empower us and we know and believe that we can do all things thru Christ Jesus. We are more than conquerors, we submit unto to God, we submit unto your will, we shall trust in you with all our hearts, leaning not to our own understanding, trusting and believing that you will direct our paths, we speak life into deliverance from bondage, brokenness, illness, we speak life of being whole in you. We understand and know that as we keep our minds upon you, we shall remain in perfect peace, we cast every care upon you, knowing that you will move in due time, we count our trials, tests all joy, knowing that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and as we go thru to get to, we know that you are with us, that nothing will happen without you allowing it, because you are God and you are in total control. We think it not strange of the fiery darts, the temptations, we shall yield to the obedience of your word, the Holy Spirit shall have total control. Father, our Lord and Savior, we ask that you continue to fill our hearts with joy, peace and love, that all we do, we do it to glorify you. Thank you that in spite of what we go thru, that all things work together for the good for those who love you and who are called according to your purpose. We bless you, we continue to pray for those who are in the family of God, and even for those who are not, trusting that they too shall come to serve, love and obey you. We ask all these things, we say all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, Jesus the one who came and died, that we may live. AMEN.

1 John 21My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for[a] the sins of the whole world.

DEVOTIONAL - No Favorites With God! - June 7, 2009

RESPONSE TO - Women Are Called To Preach! - June 6, 2009

In these last days, we will hear these declarations and proclamations of "insecure" men and those whose minds the enemy has blinded.  However, I have had the blessed opportunity to meet, fellowship with, and come to personally know some former "anti-women" preachers.  These men have a great deal of respect and admiration for our calling and it was the LORD
that gave them the understanding of our calling when they were open to hear what the Spirit said to the Churches.

One of them in particular is a Bishop I know.   He was one of the biggest opponents for years until he finally did a search of the scriptures.  He pursued this interest with an intent to understand the etymology of each word. On that day, the Lord revealed to him through the scriptures that women were called to preach, teach, evangelize, prophesy, proclaim, declare,
oversee, minister, and serve the flock of God.  I've heard him teach others about the calling of women and how God has placed them in every position in the Church.  He wanted the general board to commission me to the office of Bishop in 2006.  They refused, but compromised to the title of "Overseer."  He laughed when he presented the credentials to me at the April 2006 church conference.  He read the Ordination certificate aloud to the congregation and remarked that it stated the same language as the Bishop.

He knew that he still was dealing with men who refuse to accept the authenticity of women.  Some of his peers can't comprehend his change, but we know that the Word of God is the Transforming power and gives the renewing of the mind.

So I say this to you, keep on preaching.  You will continue for the remainder of your life and ministry to encounter the sexism, racism, classism, and other "ism" in the church which are not of God.  Your advice below is certainly in line with the scriptures.

I too have encountered this disregard for women in ministry everywhere I have traveled.  It is very prevalent in churches in so-called liberal California.  It seems the worst in Baptist churches in California and throughout the south.  However we know that God causes all things to work for the good of them who are called according to his purpose.

May God bless you and keep you.

DEVOTIONAL - A Word Was Uttered!- June 5, 2009

He [Gabriel] came, he spoke, he said to me, 'Now, Daniel; I have come down to teach you how to understand.  When your pleading began, a word was uttered, and I have come to tell you.  You are a man specially chosen.  Grasp the meaning of the word, understand the vision:

Seventy weeks are decreed
for your people and your holy city,
for putting an end to transgression,
for placing the seal on sin,
for expiating crime,
for introducing everlasting uprightness
for setting the seal
on vision and on prophecy,
for anointing the holy of holies.
Know this, then, and understand:
From the time there went out this message:
"Return and rebuild Jerusalem"
to the coming of an Anointed Prince,
seven weeks and sixty-two weeks,
with squares and ramparts restored
and rebuilt,
but in a time of trouble.
And after the sixty-two weeks
an Anointed One
put to death without his...
city and sanctuary ruined
by a prince who is to come.
The end of that prince will be catastrophe
and, until the end, there will be war
and all the devastation decreed.
He will strike a firm alliance
with many people
for the space of a week;
and for the space of one half-week
he will put a stop to sacrifice and oblation,
and on the wing of the Temple
will be the appalling abomination
until the end, until the doom
assigned to the devastator.

DEVOTIONAL - Complete Confidence!- June 4, 2009

We have then, brothers, complete confidence through the blood of Jesus in entering the sanctuary, by a new way which he has opened for us, a living opening through the curtain, that is to say, his flesh.  And we have the high priest over all the sanctuary of God.

DEVOTIONAL - Women Are Called To Preach!- June 3, 2009

In the last days--the Lord declares--
I shall pour out my Spirit on all humanity.
Your sons and daughters shall prophesy,
your young people shall see visions,
your old people dream dreams.
Even on the slaves, men and women,
shall I pour out my Spirit.
Acts 2:17-18

Want to read it again?  See Joel 3:1-3

Women are Called by God To Preach because God pours out His Spirit on them to Prophesy!

Prophesy means to proclaim by inspiration the will of God.  If proclaiming the will of God by the power of the Holy Spirit isn't preaching then I don't know what is.

Brother Ministers, if you don't understand that women ministers are acceptable to God, take heed of yourselves and this verse!

Then Peter addressed them, 'I now really understand', he said, 'that God has no favorites, but that anybody of any nationality who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.  Acts 10:34-35

Church, favoritism of male ministers over female ministers is wrong and it is sin because it is not of Christ!

For all of you are the children of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus, since every one of you that has been baptized has been clothed in Christ.  There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither slave nor freeman, there can be neither male nor female--for you are all one in Christ Jesus.   And simply by being Christ's, you are that progeny of Abraham, the heirs named in the promise.   Galatians 3:26-29

My Sister Ministers, don't be anxious about anything, you have been called to preach!  Preach the Gospel everywhere you go!  You don't have to be on a pulpit ! Pray for those who reject God's calling on your life and love them still! Don't let anybody stop you from preaching!  This is what the Lord told me:

But you must keep steady all the time; put up with suffering; do the work of preaching the gospel; fulfil the service asked of you.  2 Timothy 4:5

Thank you Pastor Peterson for accepting me with open arms and allowing me to preach and teach and grow in the Lord!  You have been a faithful Pastor to me and because of you I have respect again for the position of pastor!  Because of your leadership I have been able to heal from the hurt I encountered in church and now I am restored and ready to "cry aloud" wherever I go!  God Bless you Pastor Peterson and my church family, Bellamy Ave. Church of God!  I love you.  Revkim

Proverbs 16:7

DEVOTIONAL - Soldiers In The Army Of The Lord!- May 29, 2009

Timothy, my son, these are the instructions that I am giving you, in accordance with the words once spoken over you by the prophets, so that in their light you may fight like a good soldier with faith and a good conscience for your weapons.  Some people have put conscience aside and wrecked their faith in consequence.  I mean men like Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan so that they may learn not to be blasphemous.

1 Timothy 1:18-20

Was Paul being mean to Hymenaeus and Alexander?  Good little Christians don't hand people over to Satan, do they?  Because that's just not nice is it?

ARE YOU FIGHTING LIKE A GOOD SOLDIER!

THIS IS SPIRITUAL WARFARE - THE BATTLE IS REAL!

WHOSE ON THE LORD'S SIDE?

Before God and before Christ Jesus who is to be judge of the living and the dead, I charge you, in the name of his appearing and of his kingdom:  proclaim the message and welcome or unwelcome, insist on it.  Refute falsehood, correct error, give encouragement--but do all with patience and with care to instruct.  The time is sure to come when people will not accept sound teaching, but their ears will be itching for anything new and they will collect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes; and then they will shut their ears to the truth and will turn to myths.  But you must keep steady all the time; put up with suffering; do the work of preaching the gospel; fulfil the service asked of you.

2 Timothy 4:1-5

Is this just for preachers?

I think it's for Soldiers In The Army Of The LORD!

DEVOTIONAL - Jesus Is Coming Back!- May 28, 2009

First, I want to remind you that in the last days there will come scoffers who will do every wrong they can think of, and laugh at the truth.  This will be their line of argument:  "So Jesus promised to come back did he?  Then where is he?  He'll never come!  Why, as far back as anyone can remember everything has remained exactly as it was since the first day of creation."

They deliberately forget this fact:  that God did destroy the world with a mighty flood, long after he had made the heavens by the word of his command, and had used the waters to form the earth and surround it.  And God has commanded that the earth and the heavens be stored away for a great bonfire at the judgment day, when all ungodly men will perish.

But don't forget this, dear friends, that a day or a thousand years from now is like tomorrow to the Lord.  He isn't really being slow about his promised return, even though it sometimes seems that way.  But he is waiting, for the good reason that he is not willing that any should perish, and he is giving more time for sinners to repent.  The day of the Lord is surely coming, as unexpectedly as a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise and the heavenly bodies will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be burned up.

2 Peter 3:3-10 (Living Bible)

Oh, Yes He Is!

Are You Glad About It?

DEVOTIONAL - I AM! - May 27, 2009

Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Philippians 4:5

DEVOTIONAL - Are You Alive? - May 22, 2009

Now if we too are found to be sinners on the grounds that we seek our justification in Christ, it would surely follow that Christ was at the service of sin.  Out of the question!  If I now rebuild everything I once demolished, I prove that I was wrong before.  In fact, through the Law I am dead to the Law so that I can be alive to God.  I have been crucified with Christ and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me.  The life that I am now living subject to the limitation of human nature I am living in faith, faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:17-20

Life Is In Jesus!

DEVOTIONAL - God's Purpose For Us! - May 21, 2009

Yes, indeed, in this present tent, we groan under the burden, not that we want to be stripped of our covering but because we want to be covered with a second garment on top, so that what is mortal in us may be swallowed up by life.  It is God who designed us for this very purpose, and he has given us the Spirit as a pledge.

He was with God in the beginning.

DEVOTIONAL - God Justifies Who...! - May 18, 2009

God appointed him [Jesus]  as a sacrifice for reconciliation, through faith, by the shedding of his blood, and so showed his justness; first for the past, when sins went unpunished because he held his hand; and now again for the present age, to show how he is just and justifies everyone who has faith in Jesus. There was a man sitting there who had never walked in his life, because his feet were crippled from birth; he was listening to Paul preaching, and Paul looked at him intently and saw that he had the faith to be cured.  Paul said in a loud voice, 'Get to your feet--stand up,' and the cripple jumped up and began to walk.

DEVOTIONAL - Jesus Is God! - May 8, 2009

About the gifts of the Spirit, brothers, I want you to be quite certain.  You remember that, when you were pagans, you were irresistibly drawn to inarticulate heathen gods.  Because of that, I want to make it quite clear to you that no one who says 'A curse of Jesus' can be speaking in the Spirit of God, and nobody is able to say, 'Jesus is Lord' except in the Holy Spirit.

Romans 12:1-3

Can You Say Jesus Is Lord

DEVOTIONAL - Seek Ye First! - May 7, 2009

Follow Jesus!

DEVOTIONAL - This Is Understanding!- April 21, 2009

Be open with the wise, he grows wiser still,
teach the upright, he will gain yet more.

What God's Holy Ones Know!

DEVOTIONAL - Two Paths - April 20, 2009

Hold fast to discipline, never let her go,
keep your eyes on her, she is your life.
Do not follow the path of the wicked,
do not walk the way that the evil go.
Avoid it, do not take it,
turn your back on it, pass it by.
For they cannot sleep unless they have first done wrong,
they miss their sleep if they have not made someone stumble;
for the bread of wickedness is what they eat,
the wine of violence is what they drink.
The path of the upright is like the light of dawn,
its brightness growing to the fullness of day;
the way of the wicked is as dark as night,
they cannot tell the obstacles they stumble over.

Proverbs 4:13-19

But Only One Leads To

Life!

DEVOTIONAL - What Are You Looking For?- April 16, 2009

Yes, if your plea is for clear perception,
if you cry out for understanding,
if you look for it as though for silver,
search for it as though for buried treasure,
then you will understand what the fear of the LORD is,
and discover the knowledge of God.
For the LORD himself is giver of wisdom,
from his mouth issue knowledge and understanding.

who confides only in the honest.

Proverbs 3:31-32

God Confides

Only In The Honest!

DEVOTIONAL - Only Then!- April 5, 2009

Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup; because a person who eats and drinks without recognizing the body is eating and drinking his own condemnation.  If we are critical of ourselves we would not be condenmed, but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemned along with the world.  1 Corinthians 11:28-32

DEVOTIONAL - God Sent What?- March 31, 2009

When Abimelech had reigned three years over Israel, then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech.

Judges 9:22-23 (KJV)

Abimelech ruled Israel for three years.  God then sent a spirit of discord between Abimelech and the leaders of Sechem, and the leaders of Shechem betrayed Abimelech.  And this was so that the crime committed against Jerubbaal's seventy sons should be avenged, and their blood recoil on their brother Abimelech who had murdered them, and on those leaders of Shechem  who had helped him to murder his brothers.

DEVOTIONAL - Good News!- March 27, 2009

A feeling of expectancy had grown among the people, who were beginning to wonder whether John might be the Christ, so John declared before them all, 'I baptize you with water, but someone is coming, who is more powerful than me, and I am not fit to undo the strap of his sandals; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.  His winnowing-fan is in his hand, to clear his threshing-floor and to gather the wheat into his barn; but the chaff he will burn in a fire that will never go out.'  And he proclaimed the good news to the people with many other exhortations too.

Luke 3:15-18

* Thresh - To separate the edible grains of ripe cereal crops from stalks and husks.  In biblical times, dried wheat, barley, or rye stalks were spread on flat, open spaces called "threshing floors."  These were usually on the tops or sides of high hills where strong winds blew.  The dried stalks were first crushed, using wooden flails or weighted sleds drawn back and forth over the threshing floor by animal (Deut. 25:4; 1 Chr. 21:20-23; Isa. 28:28)  The crushed stalks were then tossed into the air by the farmer.  The heavier grain fell in a heap, while the wind blew the chaff and lighter straw away.

John the Baptist used threshing as an image of God's impending judgment.  God will separate the grain from the chaff, "gathering the wheat into his barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire" (Mt. 3:12)

DEVOTIONAL - Abraham - Friend of God! - March 26, 2009

But you, Israel, my servant,
Jacob whom I have chosen,
descendant of Abraham my friend,
whom I have taken to myself,
from the remotest parts of the earth
and summoned from countries far away,
to whom I have said, 'You are my servant,
I have chosen you, I have not rejected you,
do not be afraid, for I am with you;
do not be alarmed, for I am your God.
I give you strength, truly I help you,
truly I hold you firm
with my saving right hand.
Look, all those who rage against you
will be put to shame and humiliated;
those who picked quarrels with you
will be reduced to nothing and will perish.
You will look for them
but will not find them,
those who used to fight you;
they will be destroyed
and brought to nothing,
those who made war on you.

DEVOTIONAL - God Alone You Must Serve! - March 25, 2009

And so I say to you fathers who know the eternal God, and to you young men who are strong, with God's Word in your hearts, and have won your struggle against Satan:  Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love these things you show that you do not really love God:  for all these worldly  things, these evil desires--the craze for sex, the ambition to buy everything that appeals to you, and the pride that comes from wealth and importance--these are not from God.  They are from this evil world itself.  And this world is fading away, and these evil, forbidden things will go with it, but whoever keeps doing the will of God will live forever.

1 John 2:14-17 (Living Bible)

Then leading him to a height, the devil showed him in a moment of time all the kingdoms of the world and said to him, 'I will give you all this power and their splendor, for it has been handed over to me, for me to give it to anyone I choose.  Do homage, then, to me, and it shall all be yours.  But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says:

You must do homage to the Lord your God, him alone you must serve.'

Luke 4:5-8(New Jerusalem Bible)

Watch Out For Compromise In Your Life!

DEVOTIONAL - Where Are You Looking? - March 24, 2009

The faithful have vanished from the land;

there is no one honest left.
All of them are on the alert for blood,
every man hunting his brother with a net.
Their hands are adept at wrong-doing:
the official makes his demands,
the judge gives judgment for a bribe,
the man in power
pronounces as he pleases.
The best of them is like a briar,
the most honest of them
like a thorn-hedge.
Now from the north
their punishment approaches!
That will be when they are confounded!
Trust no neighbor,
put no confidence in a friend;
do not open your mouth
to the wife who shares your bed.
For son insults father,
daughter rebels against mother,
daughter-in-law against mother-in-law;
a person's enemies come
from within the household itself.

But I shall look to the LORD,
my hope is in the God who will save me;

my God will hear me.

[ b ] I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."

DEVOTIONAL -When You Go To War! - March 13, 2009

When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than you own, you must not be afraid of them; the LORD your God is with you, he who brought you out of Egypt.  When you are about to join battle, the priest must come forward and address the people.  He must say to them, "Listen, Israel:  today you are about to join battle with your enemies.  Do not be faint hearted.  Let there be no fear or trembling or alarm as you face them.  The LORD your God is marching with you, to fight your enemies for you and make your victorious."  Deuteronomy 20:1-4

DEVOTIONAL -Love God! - March 12, 2009

One of the scribes who had listened to them debating appreciated that Jesus had given a good answer and put a further question to him, 'Which is the first of all the commandments?'  Jesus replied, 'This is the first; Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one, only Lord, and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength .  The second is this:  You must love your neighbor as yourself .  There is no commandment greater than these.'  The scribe said to him, 'Well spoken, Master; what you have said is true, that he is one and there is no other .  To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and strength , and to love your neighbor as yourself , this is far more important than any burnt offering or sacrifice.'  Jesus, seeing how wisely he had spoken, said, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.'  And after that no one dared to question him any more.

DEVOTIONAL -Copying Other Religions! - March 11, 2009

When the LORD your God has annihilated the nations confronting you, whom you are going to dispossess, and when you have dispossessed them and made your home in their country, beware of being entrapped into copying them, after they have been destroyed to make way for you, and do not inquire about their gods, saying, "How did these nations worship their gods?  I am going to do the same too."  This is not the way to treat the LORD your God.  For in honor of their gods they have done everything detestable the  the LORD hates; yes, in honor of their gods, they even burn their own sons and daughters as sacrifices!  Whatever I am now commanding you, you must keep and observe, adding nothing to it, taking nothing away.

Deuteronomy 12:29-31

DEVOTIONAL -The LORD Is Watching Over Us! - March 9, 2009

Shout for joy, you upright;
praise comes well from the honest.
Give thanks to the LORD on the lyre,
play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.
Sing to him a new song.

The word of the LORD is straightforward,
all he does springs from his constancy.
He loves uprightness and justice;
the faithful love of the LORD fills the earth.

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
by the breath of his mouth all their array.
He collects the waters of the sea like a dam,
he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.

Let the whole earth fear the LORD,
let all who dwell in the world revere him;
for, the moment he spoke, it was so,
no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!

The LORD thwarts the plans of nations,
frustrates the counsels of peoples;
but the LORD'S own plan stands firm for ever,
his heart's counsel from age to age.
How blessed the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people he has chosen as his heritage.

From heaven the LORD looks down,
he sees all the children of Adam,
from the place where he sits he watches
all who dwell on the earth;
he alone molds their hearts,
he understands all they do.

A large army will not keep a king safe,
nor his strength save a warrior's life;
it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety,
for all its power it cannot save.

But see how the LORD watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his faithful love,
to rescue them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

We are waiting for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield,
for in him our heart rejoices,
in his holy name we trust.
LORD, let your faithful love rest on us,
as our hope has rested in you.
Psalm 33

Amen!

The natural person has no room for the gifts of God's Spirit; to him they are folly; he cannot recognize them, because their value can be assessed only in the Spirit.  The spiritual person, on the other hand, can assess the value of everything, and that person's value cannot be assessed by anybody else.

I know that I sent this verse out not too long ago.  But I was a little discouraged this week and this was the verse God gave me today and it greatly encouraged me.  And I just want to encourage someone out there today to just hold on to the Lord, no matter what is going on in your life.  God truly knows and He truly cares and He is truly with you and Good will come, for God is working everything out for His Good Purpose! I've prayed this week with many, many tears and the Lord has indeed heard and healed and restored and blessed!

God is Good!

DEVOTIONAL -The Promise Fulfilled by JESUS! - February 25, 2009

We have come here to tell you the good news that the promise made to our ancestors has come about.  God has fulfilled it to their children by raising Jesus from the dead.  As scripture says in the psalms:  You are my son: today I have fathered you.  The fact that God raised him from the dead, never to return to corruption, is no more than what he had declared:  To you I shall give the holy things promised to David which can be relied upon.   This is also why it says in another text:  You will not allow your Holy One to see corruption.   Now when David in his own time had served God's purposes he died; he was buried with his ancestors and has certainly seen corruption .  The one whom God has raised up, however, has not seen corruption .  'My brothers, I want you to realize that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you.  Through him justification from all sins from which the Law of Moses was unable to justify is being offered to every believer.  So be careful--or what the prophets say will happen to you.

Cast your eyes around you, mockers;
be amazed, and perish!
For I am doing something in your own days
that you would never believe
if you were told of it.'

Acts 13:32-41

DEVOTIONAL -He Explains! - February 24, 2009

He also said, 'What can we say that the kingdom is like?  What parable can we find for it?  It is like a mustard seed which, at the time of its sowing, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth.  Yet once it is sown it grows into the biggest shrub of them all and puts out big branches so that the birds of the air can shelter in its shade.  Using many parables like these, he spoke the word to them, so far as they were capable of understanding it.  He would not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything to his disciples when they were by themselves.

Mark 4:30-34

DEVOTIONAL -On the East Side! - February 23, 2009

Finally, on the east side, in front of the Dwelling, in front of the Tent of Meeting , towards the east, was the camp of Moses and Aaron and his sons, who had charge of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites.  Any unauthorized person coming near was to be put to death.

Numbers 3:38

DEVOTIONAL -Is Real! - February 22, 2009

'At that time Michael will arise--the great Prince, defender of your people.  That will be a time of great distress, unparalleled since nations first came into existence.  When that time comes, your own people will be spared--all those whose names are found written in the Book.

Daniel 12:1
